- DCI Goes Global!
DCI is very proud to say that our web site is up and running. Though much needs to be
added to this site we owe a debt of gratitude to Kyle Hauth, Executive Director of the
Michael Dunn Center. Kyle has graciously donated his time and energy to help DCI expand
our horizons across the internet. The site features each county, services, history
of DCI, Stakeholders, mission, company profile, and much, much more. For those who
dare to travel the information super highway our web address is:

Sevier County sends em packing Sevier County has proudly helped an individual
in the Mildred Miller Group Home pack her things to realize her dream of moving into her
own home. She and her new roommate from Honey Alexander Group Home in Maryville are
busy decorating and furnishing their new home. Hats off to all staff helping with
this move and for helping these individuals follow their dreams. Good work!
Blount County Receives Venture Grant With great appreciation we are pleased to
announce that the United Way of Blount County has selected DCI Maryville as
recipient of the 1998-99 Venture Grant. This Grant has been utilized to purchase a
vehicle which will transport individuals with disabilities in the Community Participation
program. Individuals in this program have already visited sites of elderly
and/or physically disabled persons to provide companionship, light chores,
etc. With the addition of the new vehicle, recently contacted senior
citizens groups and local nursing homes this program is
destined to grow significantly in the very near future.
Cocke County Back on Track
Pat Carr, County Director in Newport is welcomed back after being out for several weeks
due to illness. Pat is already on board four hours a day and expects to return full
time soon. Speaking of being on board, Newport Group Home residents and Supported
Living individuals have just returned from a train ride in North Carolina. Everyone
had a wonderful time and are anxiously looking forward to many other activities associated
with the upcoming Holidays.
Jefferson County
Sends Thanks
A big thank you goes out to Jefferson County Board member Bob Carter who with the help
of the local Rotary Club along with the Coach and members of the wrestling team of Carson
Newman College, built a partial wall in front of the Jefferson City Center.
This wall was needed to correct a drop off along the walkway to the center. This was all
accomplished one Saturday with all time, energy and materials being donated.
Our heart felt gratitude goes out to all those who helped complete this project and to Bob
Carter, who continues to be an asset to our Board.
